'Triolim' and 'Violão Tenor' are Brazilian term for tenor guitar. The tenor guitar is a medium sized guitar with four strings tuned like a tenor banjo - CGDA. It was introduced ad popularized in Brazil in the early 1930s by players such as Joãozinho Amaral, Garoto (Anibal Augusto Sardinha) Dadinho (Oswaldo Pasquareli Bartholoto) and others, and often used in Choro and Jazz ensembles. The similarity to the term 'Trio Elétrico' is as convenient as it is coincidential.
